I have had the privilege of meeting many of you, but for those of you who I have not yet met, I would love to tell you a little bit about me. I was born in Denver, Colorado, though I have lived in Lafayette for most of my life.   My dad, Dr. Jerry Carlson, worked at UL as a professor and then as the Dean of the College of Education until he retired a few years ago. My mom was a teacher before starting her own small business. I am a graduate of Lafayette High and UL with a degree in Business Administration. I am currently working on my MBA at UL and plan to complete my degree in 2020. My wife Kelly and I have been married for 13 years and we have two children, Jonathan who is 5, and Madeleine who is 18 months old.  For nearly 10 years, I was a volunteer Youth Pastor, serving hundreds of students and parents all across Acadiana while also working in the IT industry as the owner of a consulting firm. I am currently the Technology Director for Ascension Episcopal School.

I am a Conservative Republican who believes in keeping government as small as possible — at the federal and state level as well as locally. I will oppose new taxes and work to cut government spending.  I am running for Parish council to provide strong leadership for the people of Lafayette Parish and to ensure that as the parish continues to grow, we do not lose the core values that make Lafayette Parish a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I believe if you serve others well, you will lead them well, and I plan to provide visionary leadership as I continue serving our community as a member of the Parish Council.
